“Amendments to the Law on Labor Pensions introduce monthly pension supplements in Azerbaijan. This means a fixed amount will be added each month to the pensions of certain citizens.”
MP Vugar Bayramov said this in a commentary, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
The lawmaker noted that there had been extensive discussion in recent days about who would qualify for the monthly pension supplement and how it would be calculated:
“The amendments have been adopted by the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) and will take effect after they are signed by the President of Azerbaijan. Under the amendments, a monthly pension supplement will be assigned to certain recipients of labor pensions who have reached pension age, as well as to those who have been declared disabled because of an impairment of 81-100 percent in the functioning of their bodies before reaching that age.
Fixed supplements will apply to former First Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents of Azerbaijan with at least 15 years of service; the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers; the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic; authorized representatives of the President of Azerbaijan and their deputies; heads and deputy heads of central executive authorities; heads and deputy heads of central executive authorities of the Autonomous Republic; heads of local executive authorities; members of the Media and Broadcasting Council and members of the Nakhchivan Television and Radio Council, which existed until December 27, 2023; former civil servants; former MPs with insurance records amounting to at least half their term of office; former members of the Chamber of Accounts with insurance records amounting to at least half their term; former ombudsmen who served as Human Rights Commissioners or Nakhchivan Human Rights Commissioners and have insurance records amounting to at least half their term, as well as the Nakhchivan Human Rights Commissioner in office until April 10, 2026; former members of the Central Election Commission and the Nakhchivan Central Election Commission with insurance records amounting to at least half their term; former diplomatic service employees who held positions requiring a diplomatic rank and have at least 15 years of service in total; and military personnel of the Ministry of Defense.
As can be seen, the list is quite extensive, and labor pensions for these citizens who have reached pension age will be assigned under the new rules.
As for the amount of the fixed pension supplement, it will be assigned to these individuals by the relevant executive authority and paid from the state budget. In other words, when the amendments to the law are approved, a decree will also designate the authority responsible for setting the monthly supplement amount.”
