UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski defeated Russian fighter Movsar Yevloyev by second-round technical knockout at UFC 333. The bout took place in Abu Dhabi.
Volkanovski discussed his victory in the octagon after the fight: “Of course, I’m happy I was able to stop him early. I have nothing but respect for Movsar. I landed a very powerful shot and felt it connect. What came next was a matter of technique.”
The Australian fighter also said he was grateful for the opportunity to compete in the sport. “I’m happy to be the person I am. I’m happy to be able to compete in this sport. I use all of this to build my personal brand. Thank you all for your support,” Volkanovski added.
After the victory, Volkanovski’s record stood at 29 wins and four losses. Yevloyev suffered the first defeat of his career; he had previously won 20 consecutive fights.
