British broadcaster “Sky” said on Friday it had received a security threat, hours after Ireland’s national broadcaster RTÉ evacuated its building following a bomb threat. The incidents came amid a wave of threats targeting flights across Europe this week, Anadolu Agency reported.
Owned by US media company “Comcast”, “Sky” said it was among several media organisations that had received a security threat.
In a statement read out by a presenter on “Sky News”, the broadcaster said it had carried out a security assessment and reported the matter to the relevant authorities.
“The safety and security of our colleagues is our primary concern, and we are working closely with authorities to ensure our people and operations remain secure,” the statement said.
The broadcaster added that it would not comment further on the matter.
Earlier on Friday, RTÉ said the threat against its premises was claimed to have come from the same group allegedly behind a series of bomb threats targeting passenger flights across Europe this week.
