At least two people were killed and 15 others injured in overnight attacks, officials from Russia and Ukraine said on Tuesday, according to Anadolu Agency.
Yevgeny Balitsky, the Moscow-appointed governor of the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, said a Ukrainian drone hit a passenger bus travelling from Simferopol to Moscow near the city of Primorsk. One person was killed and all those injured were taken to hospital.
There were 31 people on the bus, Balitsky said in a post on the Russian social media platform “Max”. Passengers who did not require hospital treatment were provided with meals and accommodation. He said he was in direct contact with emergency services.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said one person was killed and 15 others injured in Russian attacks on the capital, Kyiv.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said separately that its forces carried out a large overnight strike using ground-launched precision weapons and drones. It said the targets included Ukrainian defense industry enterprises and transport infrastructure in Kyiv, a logistics center in the Kharkiv region, and vessels it said were being used in support of Ukrainian forces.
The ministry said targets in Kyiv included an industrial facility producing and storing long- and medium-range drones, as well as a drone assembly workshop belonging to “Oakline”. It said the company produces and stores the FP-1 and FP-2 long- and medium-range drones made by “Fire Point”.
It also said a drone assembly workshop and the Yuzhny road-rail bridge were struck, claiming the bridge was used to transport military cargo by road and rail.
In the Kharkiv region, the ministry said it hit an unloading and customs terminal belonging to “Regional Logistics Center”. It said the terminal was used to store and distribute supplies and dual-use goods for Ukrainian forces, as well as reconnaissance and strike drones.
The ministry also claimed that a dry cargo vessel carrying supplies for Ukrainian forces to the port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine’s Odesa region was hit at sea.
Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 222 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over 15 Russian regions overnight, the ministry said.
Claims made by both sides could not be independently verified.
