US President Donald Trump has strongly denied a report by the Axios news portal that Washington was prepared to ease sanctions and release frozen assets in exchange for Tehran meeting conditions related to its nuclear program.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the claims were completely false.
“Axios just said that Trump offered Iran sanctions relief and the release of frozen assets. This is false. I offered Iran nothing!” the US president wrote.
Trump added that the publication’s article was part of a biased campaign against him and called on Axios to immediately remove the material.
Earlier, Axios, citing unnamed US officials, reported that the White House was considering easing sanctions in exchange for certain steps by Tehran. However, Trump said several days ago that he had rejected an Iranian proposal concerning the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as insufficient.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow welcomed the signing of a memorandum on a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, although the agreement was described as fragile and uncertain.
Trump has claimed that the United States achieved a “great victory” over Iran and promised that oil prices would fall significantly to pre-war levels amid these developments.
The dispute comes against the backdrop of long-running tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and the use of sanctions as a tool in negotiations. Reports about possible diplomatic concessions can influence expectations in energy markets and international efforts to reduce regional tensions.
