Traffic congestion reported on major Baku roads

Traffic congestion is currently being observed on several major roads in Baku.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC) has released an update regarding the current traffic situation in the capital.

As of the latest report, traffic delays are being recorded at the following locations:

  • Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
  • Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station toward the city center;
  • Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, in the direction of the city center;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street toward the "20 January" metro station;
  • Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadlig Avenue;
  • Yusif Safarov Street, in the direction of the city center.

Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, has experienced rapid urbanization and an increase in the number of private vehicles over the last decade. The Intelligent Transport Management Center regularly monitors traffic flow across the city to optimize signal timing and manage congestion, particularly during peak morning and evening hours when commuters travel to and from the city center.
