The Media and Broadcasting Council has been established in Azerbaijan. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, this development is reflected in the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev regarding the application of the laws "On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan 'On Civil Service'" and "On Media."
The Media and Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan serves as the legal successor to the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, assuming all its rights, obligations, and assets. Additionally, the Public Legal Entity "Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan" has been dissolved, and its functions, assets, and liabilities have been transferred to the newly formed Council. The staff limit for the new entity has been set at 108 units.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to ensure the transfer of state property and financial resources from the dissolved entities to the new Council within one month. This administrative restructuring is part of broader ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan aimed at optimizing the management and regulation of the media landscape, ensuring a more unified approach to broadcasting and media development policies in the country.
