Prague’s Slavia have arrived in Baku to face Sabah in the second round of the Champions League league phase. The match will be played at Baku Olympic Stadium on October 13 and is scheduled to kick off at 20:45 Baku time.
Squad problems
The Czech side have several injured players. Defender Štěpán Chaloupek is expected to be out for around four to five weeks with a partial tear to a hamstring muscle. The return date for midfielder Pavel Kachor is unknown. Mikuláš Konečný, who was sent off in the match against Lens, will also miss the game against Sabah.
Slavia’s Slovak midfielder Daniel Šturm has previously faced Sabah in Baku. On July 10, 2025, he provided an assist as part of Celje’s 3-2 win over the Azerbaijani club. Šturm also scored both of Slavia’s goals in their opening-round match against Lens, which ended 3-2.
Long winless run
Slavia last won in the Champions League league phase in 2007. The Prague club have since gone 20 matches in this phase without a win. According to Sport.cz, this is the longest such run among clubs competing in the tournament since 2013.
Slavia assistant coach Zdeněk Houštecký said the team would try to claim all three points in Baku. He said the coaching and medical staff were working to get as many players as possible ready for the match.
