Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday urged the United States to ensure Russia complies with the terms of the energy truce. He said Washington should intervene to secure Moscow’s adherence to the agreement.
Speaking via video link at a security conference in Warsaw, Zelensky said Russia had violated the energy truce announced by President Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian leader said Kyiv was still awaiting details of the agreement between Washington and Moscow. He noted that he had learned about the truce through the media.
“This energy truce could work and become an important step toward ending the war. For that to happen, the Americans must now genuinely intervene and ensure that the Russians comply with the truce,” Zelensky said.
According to Naftogaz, Russia attacked the company’s gas production facilities in Kharkiv region overnight, triggering a fire.
Serhiy Fedorenko, the company’s acting chief executive, said on Telegram that the attack damaged critical equipment. He said staff were working to repair the damage as quickly as possible and prevent any threat to the stable operation of the energy system.
