Russia’s ambassador to Denmark, Vladimir Barbin, has been summoned to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Operative Information Center-OMM", citing a post by Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the social network X, reports that Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen announced the move.
"According to the armed forces, one of the Air Force helicopters was fired upon with signal flares while carrying out a planned photographic survey of a Russian frigate in waters near Gedser. This is completely unacceptable. In response, the Russian ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the statement said.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also described the incident as extremely serious.
Denmark, a NATO member, has strategic waters and airspace near the Baltic Sea, where military and maritime activities by regional states are closely monitored. Signal flares are used for warning or illumination, but their use near aircraft can create significant safety risks.
