"Rusiya ABŞ ilə təhlükəsizlik məsələlərini müzakirə etməyə hazırdır"

Russia is prepared to engage in discussions with the United States regarding security issues within the framework of a dialogue on strategic stability, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the minister emphasized Moscow's openness to communication, provided there is clarity regarding the American position. "We will certainly be ready to discuss this issue with our American colleagues once their common position on the key aspects of what is called general strategic stability becomes clearer," Lavrov stated.

The Foreign Minister also addressed the role of international alliances, noting that Russia, alongside China and other members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS, advocates for the principle of indivisible security. Lavrov expressed opposition to NATO's involvement in the security architecture of the entire Eurasian continent. Furthermore, he commented on recent statements made by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the Verkhovna Rada, suggesting they indicate preparations for further involvement in Ukraine.

Strategic stability talks between Moscow and Washington have historically focused on nuclear arms control and the prevention of direct military conflict between the two powers. These discussions have faced significant challenges in recent years due to shifting geopolitical dynamics. The mention of US President Donald Trump's administration suggests a potential for renewed diplomatic engagement, as the international community monitors how the leadership in Washington will approach bilateral security treaties and global de-escalation efforts in the coming period.
