The final stage of major repair and reconstruction work has begun in the siding of the Hazi Aslanov station on the Red Line of Baku Metro CJSC.
Citing Operative Information Center-OMM joint-stock company, the report said the reconstruction is being carried out in three stages across an area of approximately 280 meters. Repair and restoration work has been completed in the earlier stages, while grouting and leveling have been carried out along the side walls and floor. Reinforcement measures have also been implemented on the floor, walls and ceiling. The partition walls separating the central tracks have been completely rebuilt.
As part of the final stage, insulation and grouting work is being conducted on the ceiling, followed by the application of special paint. The track slab is being additionally reinforced with a modern carbon-fiber construction material. Drainage lines are still being installed, while work has also begun on communications infrastructure. A bridge for train inspection and parking is also being built.
In line with the project, the siding tracks, with a total length of nearly 1,000 meters, have been built on modern reinforced-concrete foundations, while the track switches have been constructed from monolithic reinforced-concrete blocks. Six track switches have been installed in the four-track siding. The renewal of electricity supply, communications, signaling, video surveillance, fire safety, water, sewage, ventilation and other essential systems is continuing according to plan.
Regular inspections are being conducted during the reconstruction to improve the stability of the structures, eliminate the impact of aggressive groundwater and bring the siding infrastructure into line with modern technical requirements. Based on the results of the relevant inspections, final precautionary measures will be taken throughout the area during the rainy season.
The project to strengthen the siding and structural stability of Hazi Aslanov station is being implemented under the action plan for the implementation of the State Program for 2025–2030.
Siding tracks are essential infrastructure that enables trains to spend the night, be managed flexibly, operate at short intervals, and undergo inspection and technical maintenance. Long-term operation and the area’s complex hydrogeological conditions had caused groundwater to seriously affect the structural elements of the Hazi Aslanov station siding, resulting in erosion on the walls.
The reconstruction work is scheduled for completion by the end of November this year.
