Real Madrid considers Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen a leading target to strengthen its goalkeeping position. Football Insider reports that the club views him as a long-term replacement for Thibaut Courtois, whose contract expires at the end of the 2026/27 season.
The 24-year-old Dutch goalkeeper is open to a move to Madrid if the opportunity arises, according to the report.
Verbruggen has kept six clean sheets in nine English Premier League appearances this season, putting him joint top in the league for that statistic. He ranked third in the league last season for goals prevented. He also represented the Netherlands at the World Cup in the summer.
Verbruggen’s contract with Brighton expires in the summer of 2028. The club will therefore have to choose between selling him next summer or offering him a new deal. Brighton is accustomed to interest from top clubs and is expected to handle the situation calmly and carefully.
