Former Azerbaijan national team, Qarabag and Neftchi player Rauf Aliyev has assessed the teams’ chances ahead of their eighth-round Misli Premier League match. The 37-year-old former striker said he believes Qarabag are more likely to win.
Aliyev said the match would be interesting. He noted that both teams are among the main title contenders this season.
The former player said the league has become more competitive than in previous years as rival teams have strengthened. In his view, Neftchi and Sabah are Qarabag’s main rivals, making the Premier League campaign less comfortable for the Aghdam club than before.
Aliyev nevertheless said he sees Qarabag as having a relatively greater chance of winning against Neftchi. He said he believes fans will see a derby worthy of its name and wished both teams success.
The Qarabag-Neftchi match will kick off at 7 p.m. today at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium.
