The holy month of Ramadan is expected to begin in Azerbaijan on February 19, 2025. The appearance of the new moon in the sky over Azerbaijan is forecasted for February 18, marking the start of the fasting period for the Muslim community.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that, according to the calendar released by the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), the month of fasting will officially commence on February 19. The Night of Destiny (Laylat al-Qadr) is scheduled to fall on March 8, 10, 12, and 16. Furthermore, the Ramadan holiday (Eid al-Fitr) will be celebrated across the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 20 and 21.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. In Azerbaijan, which maintains a rich Islamic heritage and traditions of religious tolerance, the month is marked by spiritual activities and the communal tradition of Iftar. The Caucasus Muslims Office, based in the capital, Baku, is the central authority responsible for determining the religious calendar and coordinating Islamic affairs in the region.
