President Ilham Aliyev visited the Sumgait Industrial Park on January 27 to participate in the inauguration of several production facilities and the foundation-laying ceremony of a new enterprise.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state first laid the foundation for a polypropylene and laminated bag production plant by "Nun" LLC. The founder of the company, Kamran Rzayev, informed President Ilham Aliyev that the facility, which will utilize German technology, is expected to produce over 3,120 tons of products annually. The project, valued at 11.2 million manats, will create 140 permanent jobs and has received a 3 million manat concessional loan from the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy.
During the visit, President Ilham Aliyev also inaugurated the cardboard and box packaging plant of "Baku Cardboard and Box Factory" LLC. The head of the company, Kamran Salmanli, noted that the facility, built on nearly 3 hectares, uses Turkish and Chinese technologies. With an investment value of 20 million manats, the plant will produce 55 million square meters of packaging annually and provide 64 permanent jobs. The enterprise has benefited from approximately 1.3 million manats in tax and customs exemptions provided to residents of industrial parks.
Furthermore, the head of state attended the opening of the "Azermirror" LLC mirror sheet production plant. Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov briefed the President on the current state of industrial zones in Azerbaijan. It was noted that 104 enterprises are currently operational across the country's industrial zones, with total investments exceeding 7 billion manats. "Azermirror" LLC, established with an investment of 6.13 million manats and Chinese technology, will produce 900,000 square meters of mirror sheets annually, creating 30 jobs.
The development of the non-oil industry remains a cornerstone of the state policy led by President Ilham Aliyev. Currently, eight industrial parks operate in Azerbaijan, including those in Sumgait, Garadagh, Pirallahi, Mingachevir, Balakhani, Hajigabul, Aghdam, and the "Araz Valley Economic Zone" in the Jabrayil district. These zones play a vital role in diversifying the national economy, promoting high-tech production, and expanding the country's export potential to over 70 countries worldwide. Residents of these parks are provided with ready infrastructure and significant tax and customs incentives for a period of 10 years to stimulate entrepreneurial activity.
