President Ilham Aliyev met with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in Davos on January 20. The meeting served as a platform to review the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the bank, highlighting the progress of ongoing joint initiatives.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the sides expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation, noting that the EBRD has successfully implemented several key projects in Azerbaijan. Specific attention was given to water sector developments in Ganja and Sheki. Furthermore, the leaders discussed the financing of projects under the State Program for 2026-2035, which focuses on upgrading water supply, sewage, and rainwater systems in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. The exchange of views also covered renewable energy, the modernization of Nakhchivan's transport network, and household waste management projects across the Republic.

The EBRD is a leading institutional investor in Azerbaijan, supporting the country's transition toward a more diversified and sustainable economy. Since Azerbaijan joined the bank in 1992, the EBRD has focused on strengthening the financial sector, improving infrastructure, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This latest high-level meeting underscores Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to enhance its investment climate and integrate modern technological solutions into its national development strategy.
