Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, China, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said Monday, according to Anadolu Agency.
Speaking at a meeting in Beijing with Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Matviyenko said cooperation between Russia and China was developing steadily and dynamically.
She said the countries coordinated their positions on international issues because their approaches were either close or coincided.
“The leaders of our countries have brought Russia-China cooperation to an unprecedentedly high level,” Matviyenko said. Putin and Xi had already met twice this year and would meet again at the upcoming APEC summit, she added.
The summit is scheduled to take place in Shenzhen on Nov. 18-19.
The Kremlin has also said a possible trilateral meeting involving Putin, Xi and US President Donald Trump had been discussed, but no final arrangements have been announced.
