Azerbaijan's implemented energy policy continues to yield significant results today.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated in President Ilham Aliyev's address to the participants of the "Baku Energy Week."
President Ilham Aliyev noted that the current year is marked by several landmark events in the energy sector:
"In particular, the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Production Sharing Agreement for the Shah Deniz gas field and the 20th anniversary of the commencement of commercial gas production from this field once again confirm Azerbaijan's strong position in the global energy market and the successful implementation of our country's energy strategy."
The head of state emphasized that the energy sector is currently one of the main pillars of sustainable development globally:
"Modern geopolitical processes show that reliable energy security is directly linked to the diversification of energy sources and the application of innovative technologies. In this regard, investments in renewable energy and low-carbon technologies are growing rapidly. The energy transition has become not only an environmental issue but also a factor of economic security and competitiveness."
The Baku Energy Week, which brings together industry leaders, policymakers, and international energy experts, serves as a premier platform for discussing the future of the Caspian region's energy landscape. Since the signing of the "Contract of the Century" in 1994, Azerbaijan has solidified its status as a reliable partner in ensuring European energy security, particularly through the Southern Gas Corridor, which delivers natural gas from the Caspian Sea to European markets.
