Polish President Karol Nawrocki has declared two days of national mourning after a shooting in Krakow left six people dead and many others injured, Anadolu Agency reported.
The president’s spokesman said Nawrocki signed a decree declaring national mourning across Poland on November 8 and 9.
The gunman, who was said to have been inspired by far-right ideology, killed six people, including a British national, in the attack in the busy centre of Poland’s second-largest city.
Police said the attacker drove onto Krakow’s Main Market Square on Saturday afternoon and fired at people at random.
The mourning period began at midnight, and national flags were lowered to half-mast.
Websites added black ribbons to their logos and adopted more subdued colour schemes. Radio and television broadcasters adjusted their programming, while entertainment events were cancelled in respect for the victims.
