Armenia plans to launch at least three satellites into orbit — two for Earth observation and one for telecommunications.
Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Armenian media, reports that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made the announcement during his address to the International Space Summit in Paris.
He said Armenia also intends to develop domestic capabilities for ground infrastructure, satellite control, and the reception, processing and analysis of data.
In addition, the country plans to establish a network of distributed ground stations capable of supporting national needs, international space missions and growing demand for satellite data and services.
Pashinyan said the Armenian government’s 2026–2031 program identifies the development of national space capabilities as a separate strategic objective.
He also highlighted the growing links between the space sector and artificial intelligence.
“In this context, we are developing a broader national concept of an ‘Artificial Intelligence Factories Park.’ Its goal is to create an ecosystem of advanced computing and artificial intelligence capabilities to support research, innovation and technological development across various fields,” he said.
Earth-observation satellites can support applications including environmental monitoring, agriculture, disaster management and infrastructure planning. Telecommunications satellites, meanwhile, can help expand connectivity and improve the resilience of communications networks.
