As of September 1, the number of active taxpayers in Azerbaijan has risen by 4.2 percent compared to the beginning of the year, reaching 895,263. Concurrently, the number of active VAT payers has increased by 6.3 percent, totaling 62,104.
The State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that as of the same date, the number of active business entities (facilities) in the country grew by 5.5 percent, amounting to 245,650.
This growth in tax registration figures reflects ongoing efforts by the Azerbaijani government to formalize the economy and improve tax administration transparency. The State Tax Service continues to implement digital reforms aimed at simplifying compliance for businesses and expanding the tax base, which is a critical component of the country's broader strategy to diversify its non-oil economy and strengthen fiscal sustainability.
