NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte presented a detailed report on the alliance's defense spending during a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from Bloomberg, Rutte utilized specific visual aids during the discussion. He presented charts labeled with gold lettering, titled "Trump's Trillion" and the "Trump-47 effect." These graphics illustrated the significant increases in defense spending by NATO member states since 2017, marking the beginning of Donald Trump's first presidential term.

The NATO Secretary General characterized the efforts of European nations to align their defense budgets with US standards as one of the most significant achievements since the Dwight Eisenhower administration in the 1950s. Despite these arguments, US President Donald Trump maintained his critical stance toward European allies, expressing dissatisfaction over their refusal to allow Washington to utilize their military bases during campaigns against Iran. Furthermore, when Rutte noted that discussions regarding European support for Washington were ongoing, the US President reportedly interrupted to express his disagreement.
