Vincento Montella, who has left his position as head coach of Turkey’s national team, has posted a farewell message on social media. He recalled being appointed to lead the side three years ago.
The Italian coach thanked former federation president Mehmet Büyükekşi and his team, the players and technical staff, current Turkish Football Federation President Ibrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu, and the fans. Montella also said he had received many heartfelt messages from players after his tenure ended.
Montella said he had shared unforgettable moments with the team, achieved historic successes and overcome difficulties together. He said he would always cherish those memories and the warm reception he had received from the Turkish people.
The coach stressed that football is about more than results and trophies. Saying he hoped Turkey’s fans would remember him with affection and respect, he ended his post: “Thank you, Turkey. You will always have a special place in my heart.”
