The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has signed a four-year contract with Sergen Yalcin. TFF President Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu, members of the federation’s board and invited guests attended the signing ceremony at the Hasan Dogan National Teams Training and Education Center in Riva.
Haciosmanoglu thanked former head coach Vincenzo Montella for his contributions to the national team. He said Turkey’s national team had been entrusted to a Turkish coach again after five years, and highlighted Yalcin’s football knowledge, experience and leadership qualities. The federation’s goal is to build a team that achieves sustained success and makes its mark on the international stage, the president said.
Yalcin: We need everyone
Yalcin said the role was the most important of his career. He said the national team’s door would be open to everyone, the squad would be selected fairly, and they wanted to strengthen a sense of unity. The coach said “very beautiful days” lay ahead.
Yalcin said Berke Ozer wanted to return to the national team and that any problems between the player and the team could be resolved. He said Turkey had two matches remaining in the qualifying stage and could reach the playoffs depending on the results.
The head coach said the contract length was set with the targets of the 2028 European Championship and the 2030 FIFA World Cup in mind. He said he had gained varied experience as both a player and a coach, and had won cups and championships at major clubs, adding that achieving results was the main goal. The ceremony ended with a group photo.
