The Turkish Football Federation offered Shakhtar head coach Arda Turan the chance to take charge of Turkey’s national team. He rejected the offer.
According to the “Boşuna Tıklama” account, Turan explained his decision by saying he did not want to leave the Ukrainian club in the lurch during a difficult period.
“The club does not want me to leave, and I cannot abandon it while the conflict is ongoing,” the coach said.
The federation later told Turan it was prepared to allow him to continue working at the club while also serving as head coach of the national team. There is no information about his response to that proposal.
Turkey head coach Vincenzo Montella has left the post.
