The Turkish Football Federation is considering appointing Arda Turan as head coach of the national team, journalist and transfer insider Nicolo Schira reported on social media platform X.
According to Schira, Turan, who currently manages Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk, is highly likely to take charge of Turkey’s national team. NTV Spor reported that he could work for both the club and the national team at the same time.
Turkey’s Italian head coach, Vincenzo Montella, was dismissed on October 9. The federation has not announced an official decision on a possible appointment of Turan.
Arda Turan has been in charge of Shakhtar since 2025. Under his management, the club won the Ukrainian league title last season. Turan made 100 appearances for Turkey, scoring 16 goals and providing 25 assists. He also captained the national team.
