Iran's new supreme leader has reportedly escaped death during a joint US-Israeli air operation that targeted a high-level facility in the country.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing information published by The Daily Telegraph, that Mojtaba Khamenei narrowly survived the airstrike carried out on February 28.

According to the reports, Mojtaba Khamenei exited the targeted building just moments before the missile strike occurred. While he managed to survive the attack with only minor leg injuries, the strike resulted in the death of his father, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The report further indicates that Mojtaba Khamenei's wife, Mrs. Haddad, and his son were also killed in the incident.

The information is reportedly based on a leaked audio recording sent to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) by Mazahir Hosseini. The Daily Telegraph claims the authenticity of the recording has been independently verified. According to Hosseini, Mojtaba Khamenei was outside the building at the time of the impact and was returning when the missiles struck the location.

This escalation follows a period of intense regional friction and direct military confrontations involving Iranian-backed groups and Western allies. The targeted strike represents a significant shift in the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, potentially altering the internal power structure within the Iranian leadership. US President Donald Trump has maintained a policy of maximum pressure regarding regional security, emphasizing the protection of strategic interests against hostile actors.
