Martin Ryan pardoned after 10-year prison sentence

Martin Ryan, who was accused of spying for France, has been pardoned.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this is stated in the decree signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on pardoning a number of convicted individuals.

Ryan Martin Richard, a French citizen, had been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a verdict issued by the Baku Court of Grave Crimes on March 16, 2026.

The pardon decree forms part of the President’s constitutional authority to grant clemency to convicted individuals. Such decrees specify the names of the beneficiaries and the measures applied in each case, including full or partial exemption from punishment.
