Manchester City could face a severe penalty in a case concerning alleged breaches of the English Premier League’s financial rules. The team’s complete expulsion from professional football has been cited as one possible scenario.

The worst-case scenario for the club would be complete expulsion from football. However, Jacobs stressed that it would be inappropriate to speculate at this stage about the final sanction.
“The worst-case scenario for the club is complete expulsion from football. However, this is only one of the legal possibilities. There is no need to speculate now about what punishment the team will receive,” the insider said.
It is worth recalling that a commission found Manchester City guilty of rule breaches on 114 of the 115 charges.
The “Citizens” currently sit top of the English Premier League table. The team’s next match will be away against Liverpool.
The Premier League’s financial regulations are intended to promote financial sustainability and fair competition among clubs. Any final decision in the case could therefore have significant sporting and financial consequences for Manchester City.
