Liverpool hosted Brighton on October 25 in a match in the eighth round of the English Premier League. The hosts opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross put the ball into his own net.
Four minutes later, Liverpool extended their lead. Alexander Isak took advantage of an opportunity to make it 2-0. Neither side scored again, and Isak’s goal proved to be the last of the match.
After the result, Liverpool sat fourth in the standings with 15 points. Brighton had 16 points and were one place above their opponents.
