Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs has expressed high praise for the Baku White City project, describing it as a testament to Azerbaijan's modern development and urban planning capabilities.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Latvian leader made these remarks during his speech at the Azerbaijan-Latvia Business Forum held in Baku on April 22.
“I visited Baku White City, and it left a very deep impression on me. This concept was developed back in 2011-2012. You first succeeded in cleaning contaminated areas and then created an architectural miracle, a modern city suitable for the 21st century. This demonstrates the potential of Azerbaijan,” President Rinkēvičs stated.
The Baku White City project is one of the world's largest modern urban development initiatives, built on the site of the former "Black City"—an industrial area once heavily polluted by the early oil industry. The transformation of this territory into a sustainable, high-end residential and commercial district serves as a key symbol of Azerbaijan's economic diversification and environmental restoration efforts. The project has received numerous international awards for its architectural design and urban integration.
