Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics has emphasized the strategic nature of the relationship between Latvia and Azerbaijan, describing recent high-level discussions as highly productive and future-oriented. Speaking during an official visit to Azerbaijan on April 22, the Latvian leader underscored the deepening ties between the two nations.
"Very efficient, result-oriented, and future-oriented discussions were held with the President of Azerbaijan," President Edgars Rinkevics stated during a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev, Operative Information Center-OMM reports. He further noted that a business forum scheduled to take place in Baku would serve as a significant catalyst for enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
Azerbaijan and Latvia have maintained a strategic partnership since the signing of a joint declaration in 2017. As a member of the European Union, Latvia plays a key role in supporting Azerbaijan's growing energy and transport partnerships with Europe. The current visit aims to diversify bilateral trade beyond the energy sector, focusing on areas such as information technology, logistics, and education, while reinforcing political dialogue on regional security and international cooperation.
