A severe landslide triggered by intense rainfall has caused significant destruction in China's eastern Zhejiang province. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the incident occurred at approximately 06:30 local time in the city of Changxing, resulting in the total collapse of a residential building.
Authorities have confirmed that one person lost their life in the disaster, while three others remain missing. Emergency response teams are currently conducting large-scale search and rescue operations at the site to locate the missing individuals.
China's Ministry of Emergency Management has noted that the country has faced a challenging weather season, with typhoons such as Maysak, Bavi, and Noul causing widespread damage throughout July. These natural disasters have resulted in a total of 318 deaths or missing persons, with direct economic losses exceeding $8.5 billion. Meteorological experts have issued further warnings, forecasting intensified rainfall across eastern and southeastern China from today through Sunday.
