Kyiv-Warsaw train hit in drone attack near Polish border

Ukraine's state railway company said the Kyiv-Warsaw passenger train came under a drone attack near the Polish border. The incident occurred in Yahodyn, about two kilometers from the border.

The company said no passengers were injured. It also reported that Ukraine's railway network had faced systematic attacks for a second consecutive day, causing widespread delays to train services.

Ukraine's state railway company said trains were continuing to operate to Warsaw and in the opposite direction, but delays remained “significant.”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the strike near the Ukrainian-Polish border in Yahodyn posed a threat directed at the borders of the European Union and NATO. The minister initially said that a border crossing had been hit, but later edited his post.

According to Ukrainian officials, at least 10 people were killed and dozens injured in Russian strikes on various parts of the country that day. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia had launched around 500 drones since Saturday.

Yahodyn is an important railway and road crossing in western Ukraine, linking the country with Poland. Attacks affecting transport infrastructure can disrupt passenger and freight connections across the region, while also creating additional security concerns along the EU and NATO's eastern flank.
