Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has arrived in Bangkok, the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand, to participate in the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan shared the announcement on its official X (formerly Twitter) account. During the visit, Jeyhun Bayramov is scheduled to deliver a speech at the session, which will be held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan on April 20, and hold several bilateral meetings with high-ranking officials.
The session, themed "Leaving no one behind: building inclusive societies in Asia and the Pacific," serves as a critical platform for discussing current and emerging demographic trends and socio-economic priorities. Key topics on the agenda include the promotion of decent work, productive employment for all age groups, the economic empowerment of women, and general social integration across the region.
UNESCAP is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations, established to promote economic and social development in the Asia-Pacific region. Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the 82nd session underscores the country's growing role in international diplomacy and its commitment to fostering regional cooperation and sustainable development goals within the UN framework.
