Israel has shared intelligence with Saudi Arabia, through US mediation, on the deployment and future plans of forces belonging to Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, commonly known as the Houthis.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Israeli Walla news portal cited diplomatic sources in the region as saying this.
According to the report, Saudi and Israeli representatives held secret talks through the US Central Command (CENTCOM). The main purpose of the talks was to provide intelligence support to protect Riyadh from possible Houthi attacks and to obtain a more complete assessment of the region’s security situation. The Saudi side was particularly interested in receiving timely information about the Houthis’ military capabilities and intentions.
The report said the possibility that the United States could reach separate agreements with Iran and the Houthis as part of regional developments has caused serious concern in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. Earlier, Axios reported that US President Donald Trump had rejected requests from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to launch strikes against Houthi positions in Yemen.
The Houthis, who control large parts of northern Yemen, have remained a major security concern in the Red Sea and Gulf region. Their activities have affected regional shipping and have prompted increased coordination among the United States, Saudi Arabia and other regional countries.
