The Israeli military has conducted a series of new military operations in southern Lebanon, further escalating the ongoing conflict in the region.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Middle Eastern sources, the recent strikes targeted areas surrounding the settlements of Kfar Chouba, Majdal Zoun, and Al-Haniyeh.
Reports indicate that prior to these strikes, the Israeli Air Force targeted a building in the town of Tebnine in southern Lebanon. The incident resulted in one fatality and left 11 others with varying degrees of injuries.
Despite a framework agreement reached in Washington on June 26, which aimed to establish a ceasefire and facilitate the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, tensions in the region remain high. Residential areas in southern Lebanon are frequently subjected to artillery and aerial attacks, resulting in significant damage to civilian infrastructure and housing.
Official Tel Aviv has stated that the primary objective of these operations is to secure the country's northern borders against threats posed by the Hezbollah movement.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has deep historical roots, often intensifying along the "Blue Line," the demarcation line between Lebanon and Israel. These recurring hostilities underscore the fragility of regional stability and the ongoing challenges in implementing diplomatic solutions to de-escalate the situation.
