A bilateral meeting was held between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev on the sidelines of high-level international events in Turkmenistan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the sides discussed the current state of Iran’s cooperation with the organization as a full member, as well as the implementation of joint projects in security, the economy and transport and logistics.
Pezeshkian said Iran was ready to make a significant contribution to deepening regional integration within the SCO and strengthening a multipolar world order. Yermekbayev praised Tehran’s active role in the organization and its constructive position on ensuring regional security.
The SCO is a regional organization whose members cooperate on security, economic development and other issues. Iran became a full member in 2023.
