President Ilham Aliyev has approved the "Rules for conducting competitions for admission to the diplomatic service" and the "Rules for the preliminary verification of documents of persons applying for admission to the diplomatic service."

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to this effect, aimed at streamlining the recruitment process for the country's foreign policy apparatus.

According to the decree, the Cabinet of Ministers has been tasked with resolving all issues arising from the implementation of these new regulations. The new rules are expected to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the selection process for candidates seeking to represent Azerbaijan in its diplomatic missions abroad and within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The diplomatic service in Azerbaijan plays a crucial role in implementing the nation's foreign policy, protecting its interests on the international stage, and strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations. This legislative update follows a series of reforms in Azerbaijan aimed at modernizing the civil service and ensuring that highly qualified professionals are recruited to key state positions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the primary body executing these policies, maintains a network of embassies and consulates globally to promote Azerbaijan's economic, political, and cultural interests.
