Foreign diplomatic missions congratulate Azerbaijan on Independence Day

Diplomatic missions and representatives from Montenegro, Serbia, Syria, and Italy have extended their official congratulations to the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Independence Day.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these congratulatory messages were shared on the "X" social media platform, highlighting the significance of the date for the Azerbaijani state.

Vugar Aliyev, Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Azerbaijan, emphasized the historical importance of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, noting it as the first secular and democratic republic in the Muslim East. "We honor the memory of the republic's founders and celebrate the strength, unity, and achievements of the Azerbaijani people. We wish Azerbaijan lasting peace, prosperity, and success. Happy Independence Day!" he added.

The Embassy of Serbia stated: "We congratulate the brotherly Azerbaijani people and the government on Independence Day! We wish that this day is always celebrated in an atmosphere of peace, tranquility, and prosperity!"

The Embassy of Syria noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan celebrates May 28 as its national holiday, commemorating the declaration of independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918. "This date represents a crucial historical milestone in the development of the Azerbaijani people, as it symbolizes sovereignty, freedom, and the building of a modern state," the message read.

The Embassy of Italy also extended its congratulations to the people and government of Azerbaijan, expressing its best wishes for the country's continued progress.

Independence Day in Azerbaijan, celebrated on May 28, marks the founding of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918. It serves as a cornerstone of the nation's modern identity, honoring the struggle for sovereignty and the establishment of democratic institutions in the region.
