Five Baku schools to switch to distance learning for F1 race

Lessons at five general education schools in Baku will be held remotely from Sept. 22 to 26, 2026, due to traffic restrictions on avenues and streets covered by the Baku City Circuit during the Azerbaijan Formula One Grand Prix.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information was released by the Baku City Education Department.

The department said distance learning will be organized at Tofiq Ismayilov Lyceum No. 6, Karim Karimov Secondary School No. 8, Tahir Hasanov Secondary School No. 23, Lyceum No. 132-134 and Ilyas Efendiyev Elite Gymnasium from Sept. 22 to 26, 2026.

Traffic restrictions will also be introduced in certain areas during the Azerbaijan Formula One Grand Prix.

The first restriction will take effect at 9 p.m. on Sept. 19 on the section of Pushkin Street between its intersections with Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Neftchilar Avenue. It will remain in place until the event ends.

Under the traffic management plan, streets along the Baku City Circuit and areas covered by the track will be closed to traffic from 1 a.m. on Sept. 20 until 8 a.m. on Sept. 28. Entry to and exit from the restricted zones will be possible only with a “Residential Access Permit.”

Formula One races in Baku are held on a temporary street circuit that passes through central parts of the capital. Such events typically require coordinated traffic management and temporary adjustments to access for residents, businesses and public institutions.
