The parties to the conflict — Russia and Ukraine — have been issued the necessary warnings over attacks on ships in the Black Sea.

"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the remarks at a joint media briefing with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in Baku.

He said that he and his Azerbaijani counterpart had also discussed the Russia-Ukraine war during their meeting today:

"Recent attacks on cargo ships in the Black Sea are a matter of serious concern. Unfortunately, there have also been fatalities among Azerbaijani and Turkish citizens. We are issuing the necessary warnings to the parties to the conflict on this issue. These contacts have intensified in recent days."

The minister also said that the Russia-Ukraine war was having a serious impact on the global economy:

"Türkiye has made its position clear since the Russia-Ukraine war began. Efforts have been made to put into practice the position demonstrated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on this issue. We have held talks with the parties, and work in this regard is continuing. This war is also causing significant damage to the global economy."

Hakan Fidan also emphasized that the United States, Türkiye and other countries were continuing their efforts to end the war:

"We meet with the parties regarding the Black Sea, receive responses and also put forward proposals. There is now no place that has not been targeted. The fighting must stop to prevent the war from expanding further. In my view, both sides are now psychologically exhausted as well. At such a time, the countries facilitating contacts are intensifying their efforts and engagement."

The Black Sea has become a key security and trade corridor affected by the Russia-Ukraine war. Attacks involving commercial vessels have raised concerns over civilian safety, maritime transport and the continuity of regional trade.
