Eric Bauza, the voice actor behind “Looney Tunes” characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, has died at the age of 46, the BBC reported.

A statement from Bauza’s family, posted on Instagram, said he had died “suddenly”.

Bauza voiced several characters in the animated film “Coyote vs. Acme” and appeared in the recent release “Forgotten Island”. Variety reported that he died at home on Sunday and that the cause was hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

Born in Ontario and of Filipino descent, Bauza said in a 2021 interview with NBC News that he grew up a major fan of “Looney Tunes” and imitated the characters’ voices as a child.

“Looney Tunes transcends all languages and all cultures,” he said. “It doesn’t matter what part of the planet you’re from. You get the comedy.”

In “Space Jam: A New Legacy” (2021), he voiced Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd and Foghorn Leghorn. He later reprised those roles and voiced Road Runner in “Coyote vs. Acme”.

Bauza also played Toad General in “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” (2023) and its sequel, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”, which is the fifth highest-grossing film internationally this year.

Between 2022 and 2025, he won three Emmy awards for outstanding voice performance in several television series.

Channing Dungey, chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, said Bauza “was a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions around the world”, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“He followed in the footsteps of giants like Mel Blanc,” Dungey said. “Eric said that carrying on the legendary legacy of the Looney Tunes was among the greatest honors of his life.”
