Türkiye continues its diplomatic efforts to achieve a fair and peaceful settlement of the Ukraine conflict and restore maritime security in the region.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of Türkiye issued an official statement to this effect.
The statement highlighted Ankara’s efforts to maintain regional stability: “Türkiye is actively working to end the conflict and is consistently taking steps, particularly to ensure the safety of shipping in the Black Sea.”
President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan previously commented on the issue, strongly condemning attacks on civilian commercial vessels in the Black Sea, regardless of who carried them out, and stressing that such incidents are unacceptable. The Turkish leader said he hoped the conflict would end within the framework of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and in accordance with international law.
Talks between Russia and Türkiye on ensuring navigation security in the Black Sea are also continuing. On September 15, Russia’s ambassador to Türkiye, Sergey Vershinin, said that Moscow and Ankara were holding bilateral consultations on possible mechanisms to ensure the safe movement of maritime transport in the Black Sea.
The Black Sea is a key route for commercial shipping and the transportation of agricultural products. Efforts to protect civilian vessels and maintain safe navigation remain an important element of broader regional diplomacy.
