US President Donald Trump has held a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the escalating situation in the Middle East and regional security concerns.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the details of the call were shared by the US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor. "President Donald Trump just spoke with Prime Minister Modi. They discussed the current situation in the Middle East, including the vital importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for international shipping and global energy security," the Ambassador stated in a social media post.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime chokepoint between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes daily. Stability in this region is of paramount importance to both the United States and India, as any disruption to the flow of energy resources could have significant implications for global markets and the economic stability of major importing nations like India.
