Sumgait police have detained two car mechanics who allegedly stole spare parts from one vehicle to repair another, according to official reports.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed Operative Information Center-OMM that as a result of operations conducted by officers of the Sumgait City Police Department's 4th Police Division, 34-year-old G. Rajabov and 22-year-old A. Guliyev were identified and taken into custody as suspects.
The investigation revealed that the suspects took advantage of their positions as car mechanics after a victim brought a vehicle to them for repair purposes. Instead of performing the requested services, they looted the vehicle's spare parts and used them for the repair of other automobiles under their care.
An investigation into the facts is currently ongoing. In Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and local police departments regularly conduct such operations to ensure the protection of private property and to maintain public order. Sumgait, being the second-largest industrial center in Azerbaijan, remains a focal point for law enforcement efforts to combat property-related crimes and ensure business transparency within the service sector.
