Ilduza Hajiyeva, a blogger known by the pseudonym "Arzum," who was accused of causing a fatal traffic accident that resulted in one death and injuries to another, as well as fleeing the scene, has been released to house arrest.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this decision was handed down by the Baku Court of Appeal.

According to the ruling, the motion filed by defense attorneys to change the preventive measure for Ilduza Hajiyeva was granted. Furthermore, the appeal has been scheduled for a full judicial review, with the court deciding to conduct a formal investigation during the proceedings.

It should be recalled that Hajiyeva was previously sentenced to 5 years and 2 months in prison by the Khazar District Court and was taken into custody in the courtroom.

The incident occurred in June 2025 in the Mardakan settlement of Baku's Khazar district. According to the indictment, the accused fled the scene immediately after the collision. Hajiyeva is charged under Article 263.2 (violation of traffic rules or operation of vehicles resulting in death) and Article 264 (leaving the scene of a traffic accident) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The judicial system in Azerbaijan frequently reviews preventive measures during the appellate process, allowing defendants to remain under house arrest or bail while their cases undergo further legal scrutiny, provided they meet specific legal criteria set by the courts.
