Baku roads open during Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Several main roads in Baku will be open at designated times during the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix to facilitate travel for residents and drivers.

Several main roads in Baku will be open to traffic at designated times during the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix to facilitate travel for residents and drivers.

The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed of this by the Baku City Circuit Operations Company.

A new transit corridor will also be established from the intersection of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets toward Bulbul Avenue.

Traffic restrictions will also be introduced in certain areas in connection with the race.

The initial restriction will take effect at 21:00 on Sept. 19 on the section of Pushkin Street between its intersections with Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Neftchilar Avenue. The restriction will remain in place until the end of the event.

Under the Traffic Management Plan, the streets along the Baku City Circuit and the areas covered by the track will be closed to traffic from 01:00 on Sept. 20 until 08:00 on Sept. 28. Access to and exit from restricted zones will be possible only with a “Residential Access Permit.”

At the same time, based on experience from the past three years, several main roads will be open to traffic at designated times during the race to facilitate travel for residents and drivers.

Thus, on Sept. 21 and 22, the entry and exit points listed below will be open to traffic from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 18:00 to 20:00, with stopping and parking prohibited.

On Sept. 23, the specified roads will be open to traffic from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 20:00 to 22:00.

Entry points:

● From Salyan Highway toward Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft Circle;

● From M. Lermontov Street toward the UN 50th Anniversary Street and Istiglaliyyat Street;

● From S. Vurgun Street toward U. Hajibeyli Street and Bulbul Avenue;

● From Bulbul Avenue toward Khagani Street and Neftchilar Avenue;

● From the intersection of Nizami and Pushkin streets toward Khagani Street;

● From the intersection of U. Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets toward Bulbul Avenue.

Exit points:

● From Neftchilar Avenue toward Baku Sea Port, Port Baku Mall and Crescent Mall;

● From Istiglaliyyat Street toward Azerbaijan Avenue;

● From Neftchilar Avenue toward Azneft Circle, Deniz Mall and Salyan Highway.

During the specified periods, vehicles will be able to travel through the designated transit corridors, except for public transport and heavy-duty trucks.

While the transit corridors are open, parking and passenger boarding or disembarking will not be allowed, except in emergencies. The speed limit on the transit corridors will be 50 kph.

The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held from Sept. 24 to 26 this year. The Baku City Circuit is a temporary street circuit in the capital, requiring traffic arrangements to balance race operations with daily urban mobility.
