Azerbaijani chess players win medals at European Cup

Azerbaijani chess players won medals at the European Club Cup, held in Budva, Montenegro.

In the men’s competition, Vugar Gashimov scored 10 points to finish 10th. Aydin Suleymanli, who played for the club, won the bronze medal on Board 1 for his individual performance.

In the women’s tournament, Serbia’s Sirmium Sremska Mitrovica and Azerbaijan’s Odlar Yurdu each scored 10 points and shared third and fourth places. Based on tiebreak criteria, Odlar Yurdu finished fourth. The team’s Gulnar Mammadova won gold on Board 4.

Baegan Pendik of Türkiye, featuring Azerbaijani grandmaster Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, won the European Cup.
